January 2012

Please come to the monthly membership meeting with your ideas. The executive board will be discussing plans for upcoming programs especially the May banquet and fundraiser. If there are issues or program ideas you would like to bring to the board’s attention this is an opportunity to do so. The Green Team will also be meeting to plan the Green Lifestyle Fair and your ideas and participation are needed.

February 2012

The SLDW is holding its first meeting devoted to the status of women’s reproductive rights. Come find out where we stand, what the threats to our rights are, and what we need to keep fighting for. Judy Tabar of Planned Parenthood of Southern New England will be our guest speaker.

March 2012

We are finalizing plans for the March membership meeting. Keep posted for details.

The Green Lifestyle Fair! March 24th! Plan to come and please plan to volunteer for part of the day. We truly need everyone’s help to make the fair a success. Membership chair, Kathleen Skoczen, will be contacting the entire membership to set up the volunteer schedule for fair day. Your help is needed prior to the fair as well. The Ultimate Shoreline Recycling Guide is being updated and expanded. Work is underway but help is needed. Contact Christine Rogers at mscroteau@comcast.net if you can help and also if you see a reference to recycling that we can add to the guide. Other ways to help for the Green Fair are distributing posters and yard signs, and finding new vendors for the fair. Contact Belinda Jones at belinda.jones@hitechmarketing.com if you can help out.

April 2012

We are finalizing plans for the April membership meeting. Keep posted for details.

Campaign Academy! April 28th and 29th. Cosponsored by the SLDW and Democracy for Connecticut (out of Fairfield County) this is a    2 day intensive training program in successful campaign and election strategies. The program will be run and taught by Democracy for America (Howard Dean’s group). Some scholarship money will be available to help with the cost if needed. More details to come.

May 2012

The SLDW Annual Banquet and Fundraiser will be held in May, the exact date to be determined after the first of the year. The silent auction and raffle at the banquet help to offset expenses for the year. Please start looking for and gathering auction and raffle items now.  If you can donate an item or can ask a business for an auction or raffle donation it would be greatly appreciated. Contact Christine Rogers at mscroteau@comcast.net if you can help.
